– All mediums are welcome, and artists can submit up to three works –
Calls to all artists for shows occur six times a year, opening approximately six weeks before the show’s opening date. Occasionally, other projects are offered and these we will also post as an open call. Upcoming calls to artists are found under this menu item, as is our submission policy.
We use ArtCall to facilitate the submission of work to our calls, as it allows us to have a blind jury process. Each call has a guest juror who only looks at the images submitted, the description of the work, and the artist’s statement or inspirational comment. Therefore, it is essential that submitted images are in focus and of good resolution and that descriptions of your artist statement or inspiration process, and materials are well written. These write-ups and images are the basis for judging the work. Additionally, the information submitted is used to promote each artist’s work during the exhibition through social media, print media, and our website. Lastly, the submitted written material and images are used to create exhibition books for circulation and archiving in the Library and Archives Canada and for sale to the artist and public if extra copies are available.
The ArtPod pays CARFAC fees to jurors.
