We are inviting proposals for an artist-led project to be presented as part of the Metchosin Ocean Art Walk, which will be experienced along the route from the Metchosin Arts and Cultural Centre (MACC) to Witty’s Lagoon, Metchosin, BC, on Canada Day, July 1, in conjunction with MACC’s Festivus celebrations.

This is part of the Metchosin Ocean Art Parade of Events

The Ocean Art Walk brings together community, art, and ecology to honour the landscape and waters that surround us. This initiative invites engagement through both artist-led and self-guided walks from MACC to the ocean. Participants experience the Village of Metchosin, local farms, rainforests, beaches, tide pools, and expansive ocean views through immersive, creative art projects.

We are seeking proposals for original art projects that may include (but are not limited to): performance, installation, storytelling, poetry, dance, movement, mindful forest bathing, or ecological experiences. The $700 commission must cover all project costs, including the artist honorarium, materials, production, supervision, facilitation, any required approvals or permits, documentation, clean-up, and a brief final report. Please note that this project takes place in a sensitive ecosystem. Stay on designated paths, leave no trace, and pack out all materials. Development space at MACC’s Event Space may be available; please visit their website for details.

Submit a one-page 8.5” x 11” page proposal that includes: project title, artist name, brief project description, short artist bio, and your contact information (name, email, phone). If available, include a sketch or other visual aids, as well as links to your website and social media. If applying via ArtPod, follow the ArtCall submission guidelines. Please ensure your proposal is publication-ready, as it may be used for promotional purposes.

Upon project completion, submit a short final report and up to three representative images of the project.
