Iterations: Art in a Series

February 3 – March 26, 2023
Many artists work in series. Artsy Shark has a great description of why a series of works can be so compelling: “It’s all visual storytelling. A series expresses a much more wide-ranging voice than a single piece. It allows the viewer to become fully engaged in these ideas as it creates a deeper experience into the artwork. A series requires more than just a cursory scratch on the surface of an idea. It should take us on a journey into the artists’ deeper and more meaningful personal expression.” http://www.artsyshark.com/2020/05/27/why-paint-a-series/

For the Iterations show, juror Kathleen Schmalz, http://www.kathleenschmalzartist.com/ has selected a variety of works in series of greater than two. Each series is designed to be cohesive, unified, and coherent, so while each piece is strong enough to stand on its own, taken together the series will elevate the viewer’s experience and insight of the artist’s intentions or theme.
Regular gallery hours apply (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm).
