Khione Gardner

Khione Gardner grew up surrounded by her Maternal grandmother’s bronze cast sculptures. Her parents, enthusiastic supporters of all the fine arts, exposed her and her siblings to Art, Theatre and Music of all kinds as children.

After moving to Victoria from Southern Ontario, she attended UVic for Education and then the Victoria College of Art.

While raising her family and working as an Educational Assistant for the Sooke School district and as an instructor at 4Cats Art Studio, Khione has explored artmaking with many different mediums. Stained glass, acrylic paint, pencil drawing, chalk pastels and found object sculptures. She appreciates being able to play with various materials, finding what is best suited to the intent of a project or idea.

She is passionate about the outdoors, and her art often explores the relationship between people and nature. Photos taken on wilderness adventures are great source material.

She is also passionate about children, teaching and inspiring through art and the environment.

She is excited to be entering a stage in life where she can dedicate more time to being a maker and participate more fully in this vibrant arts community.
