Rural Sketching – Weekly

Wednesdays 2 pm – 4 pm. Leave at 2 pm sharp. Those who want to meet at the site will be notified of the location on Wednesday morning.

This is for anyone interested in weekly sketching sessions, from beginners to experienced sketchers, rain or shine. In good weather, we will be in outdoor locations such as parks, forests, or beaches; in bad weather, we will sketch found objects or views from a window or the inside environment indoors. This is inspired by a recent Field Journaling workshop by botanist and artist Lyn Baldwin in Metchosin.

There are no instructions, but tips can be shared. The suggested basic supplies are a sketchbook, felt-tip permanent ink (not water-soluble) pen, pencil, eraser, and seat pad. If adding watercolour, the sketchbook pages should be heavy enough to allow wetting. The photograph shows the kit of ArtPod member Janet Moore and includes a sample page from her sketchbook.
