Discover your own personal symbols and understand the emotional power of colour.
Explore intentional mark making.
When can just a symbol empower you with strength?
Could a choice in colour weave and shift your energy?
How do the gestures and brushstrokes themselves carry focused intent?
Participants will explore these questions and more as we delve into the world of ArtPod’s Talisman. In this workshop, designed for all skill levels and those curious about how art can transform into power, participants are invited to explore the process of combining symbols, palettes, and expressive mark-making to create individual, talismanic works of art. Together, we will cover several elements of human nature, including belief, intent, and tradition. Some culturally, ceremonially, and personally. Hint* that’s YOU.
Through this workshop, you will have the opportunity to:
- Actively discover your OWN personal sigil or symbol.
- Gain a deeper understanding of the emotional power of palettes and colour.
- Embrace the intentions through expressive mark-making.
- Learn about yourself, make a mess, and leave with a broader view of what talismans mean to you.
- Oh, and to have created your own personal talisman art, that is infused with your energy and intent, as well as a piece of art embodying your studies of intent, colour and energy.
Ages: 15+ (teens, adults, advanced artists welcome). Please note that some content to be covered may include adult themes.
Experience: No prior art experience required. Open to anyone interested in exploring art and power, expanding their visual vocabulary, engage in personal artistic expression, or just want to have some fun.
What to Bring:
- Water, or a non-alcoholic drink of your choice. Hydrate! And snacks if you are a person who gets Hungry.
- Any art supplies that you feel comfortable with to create your talisman. These may also include personal items that you would like to be used as the foundation of your personal talisman. Lucky rock, favourite baseball, ethically procured animal skull, paints, and other items you might want to use to make a talisman. The presenter will also bring some items for sharing.
- Mixed media such as paints, inks, pencils, mark-making tools, erasers, sharpeners, sketchbooks, paper or canvases to paint on.
- An openness to have fun in a safe space environment, to explore your art processes more intimately.
So excited to spend the day meeting all of you and uncovering the power of Talisman with you!
