Join ArtPod Artists Memet Burnett and Khione Gardner in an afternoon workshop for artists of all levels.
Bring:
Part 1:
- discuss historical and current-day mobile making materials and start to prepare materials while watching an AV presentation
- learn some of the history of mobiles
- explore design principles, form and function of mobiles
- have demonstrated to them and experiment with different mobile-making types, techniques and joining methods
Part 2:
- plan and work on their own linear mobile, face mobile or small more free-moving Calder-like mobile
- continue to develop skills and confidence to pursue this fun art-form on their own at home.
SUPPLIES:
Bring:
- Coveralls or crafting apron
- Sketchbook in which to scribble inspirations/ roughly plan your creation
- Needlenose and/or round nose pliers for working with wire,
- Nipping pliers with a cutting edge
- Tin snips
- Scissors for paper
- White glue
- Xacto knife
- Self-heal matt for cutting (if owned)
- Possible lightweight items that you may wish to incorporate into a mobile (photographs, scrap paintings and/ or pieces of canvases, fabric or yarn, old naturalist books of mushrooms/ birds/ butterflies that can be harvested, any light-weight collection meaningful to you including origami, pompoms, small crocheted items, FIMO or airdry clay shapes, origami, additional pop cans to harvest for aluminium)
- Your own favourite mark-making media and material to draw/ paint/ create upon
